What should I bring in or send in PRIOR to my appointment?

Please have items to us at least ONE WEEK before your appointment such as: your completed tax organizer, pay stubs, interest/dividends statements, mortgage interest and real property tax forms, real estate settlement sheets, documents related to sales of investments, self–employment income and expense items, social security numbers for new dependents, birthdates for all filers and dependents, real estate rental information, contributions to/distributions from a retirement plan, student loan interest, moving expenses, unreimbursed employee expenses, and estimated tax payments made for both federal and state taxes. Basically, please supply anything you believe will have any bearing on your 2007 Tax Return. All original documentation that you provide to us will be returned to you with delivery of your tax return.

What happens during my appointment time?

During your appointment time, you will meet with an experienced tax professional to review your previously submitted documents, answer your questions, discuss any other needed information, and set a timeframe for completing and filing your return. You are welcome to call with additional questions at any time.

What if I need to change my appointment time?

If your originally schedule appointment is no longer convenient, please call us as soon as possible. Tax time is a busy season for appointments and we would like to be able to quickly reschedule you to another convenient time. Such advance notice also allows us to accommodate other people who need appointments.

How long does it take to prepare my return?

Once we have met with you for your appointment and have all the needed information, it will take approximately two weeks to complete your return. We can accommodate early returns needed for the STAR exemption verification deadline of March 1st and also assist with return information for the FAFSA (financial aid) application process as long as information is received by mid–February.

Please note that we need to have complete return information no later than April 8th, 2008 in order to meet the April 15th filing date for you.

What is the approximate cost of preparing a tax return?

Our fee for preparing your tax return is based on the type of return and the schedules necessary to properly complete the return. For example, the fee for a federal Form 1040 (Individual Income Tax Return) with a Schedule A (Itemized Deductions), a Schedule D (Capital Gains), a New York state income tax return, and no complicating issues would be approximately $195. All return fees include E–filing service.

If you have a more complicated situation or need additional work done, we will discuss the fees with you at the time of your appointment.

How do I track my refund?

You can check on your individual federal tax refund at www.irs.gov "Where's My Refund" or 1.800.829.4477.

You can check on your individual New York refund at www.tax.state.ny.us or 1.800.443.3200.
