Emergency measures have been enacted by New York State to help protect insurance policyholders who are enduring financial hardship due to the pandemic. These measures extend grace periods and give you other rights under certain insurance policies (individual, small business).

A graduate of Canisius College in Buffalo, John holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and has been active in the Financial Services industry since 1983. John is a member of the Society of Financial Professionals with a specific interest in estate planning. He earned the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS) designations. He also has the Series 6, 7 and 63 registrations which are held with LPL Financial, the NYS Life and Accident & Health Insurance Licenses, and General Securities Principal Series 24.
He is committed to continuing education in order to enhance the level of service he can provide to his clients and has completed many courses and workshops in the financial services industry. More than 20 years of experience as a business owner and financial consultant has given him an excellent background with which to lead our team at CCFS.
John supports causes for children, educational endeavors and economic empowerment. He was a board member of the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation from 2005 to 2015 and was chairman from 2011 to 2013. He has been a Junior Achievement instructor many times and supports the CAP COM Cares Foundation through ongoing volunteer work. He is currently on the Northeast/Seton Health Foundation board, part of the St. Peter’s Health Partners family. He joined CAP COM in 1995 and was named CIO in 2001.
Brian brings nearly 10 years of corporate experience to CCFS. He helped launch two local businesses and holds a Series 24, General Securities Principal license, as well as Series 7 and 63 licenses with LPL Financial. Additionally, Brian holds the NYS Life, Accident & Health Insurance License. Along with oversight of CCFS business development, the educational workshop program and operations, Brian also leads our branch network of financial advisors and insurance specialists, working to help connect credit union members with CCFS.
Jim provides retirement, estate, tax and income planning for Credit Union members, oversees the CAP COM Financial Tax Division and serves as mentor to the Advisory Team. Actively involved in the community, he presently serves on the Board of Vanderheyden, a premier youth, individual and family service agency.
Jim has a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Siena College. He is registered with the nation’s largest independent broker-dealer, LPL Financial, and also with the IRS as a Registered Income Tax Preparer. He holds Series 6, 7, 63 and 66 securities registrations, as well as the NYS Life and Health Insurance Licenses and a NYS Notary Public Certification. LPL Financial has recognized Jim as a top advisor since 2003, naming him for the Bank Insurance & Securities Association’s (BISA) “Top 200 Advisor Program” in 2011 and nominating him for Bank Investment Consultant Magazine’s “Top 50 Advisors” in 2014.
Steve joined our Financial Advisory team in 2002. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from SUNY Albany. He holds Series 7 and Series 66 registrations with LPL Financial as well as the NYS Life and Health Insurance license. Steven has earned the Certified Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) designation, the nation’s premier retirement planning credential. This designation, combined with years of experience in the industry, arms him with the most current information on retirement planning.
Steven has conducted hundreds of offsite financial planning workshops and other speaking engagements to share valuable financial planning concepts.
Harry joined CAP COM Financial Services in 2007 with an extensive background in financial services. After graduating in 1988 from SUNY Plattsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, he worked as a broker on various trading floors from 1990 to 2004, specializing in Eurodollar CDs, Interest Rate Derivatives and Energy Futures. Harry came to the Capital Region in 2004 as a Financial Advisor. His Series 7 and 66 registrations are held at LPL Financial and he also holds the NYS Life & Health Insurance license.
Harry is authorized by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board) to use the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™and CFP® certification marks. CFP® professionals must pass the comprehensive CFP® Certification Examination, pass CFP Board's Fitness Standards for Candidates and Professionals Eligible for Reinstatement, agree to abide by CFP Board's Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and Rules of Conduct which put clients' interests first and comply with the Financial Planning Practice Standards which spell out what clients should be able to reasonably expect from the financial planning engagement. This certification, along with Harry’s education and experience assure CCFS clients that their finances are managed with the highest level of professionalism and responsibility.
Matt joined CAP COM Financial Services in 2017, after working for 7 years in the branches at CAP COM Federal Credit Union. In his role as Financial Consultant, he advocates for the best interest of our members and clients by discussing their retirement planning and investment needs.
Matt is a graduate of St. Lawrence University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Government. He holds Series 7 and Series 66 registrations with LPL Financial. In addition, he holds a NYS Life and Health Insurance license.
Willis joined CAP COM in 2009. With 25 years of experience in the credit union industry, he brings valuable experience to CCFS and knowledge of financial institutional operations in the areas of lending, risk management, investments and employee benefits. In previous roles, Willis has worked with the largest credit unions in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. A graduate of Canisius College, he holds licenses for life, health, property and casualty insurance in 13 states, as well as several industry education certificates.
