As tax laws become increasingly more complicated, many people now work with tax professionals to file even simple tax returns. Our experienced tax preparers* are employees of the Credit Union and provide the service levels and expertise we are known for. They can help you file your best tax return for your specific situation.
* Note: Tax services are not offered through LPL Financial.
Your tax return will be checked, rechecked and verified for accuracy by your tax preparer and our income tax reviewer. This three-stage process is unique to our firm and ensures your return is completed properly and accurately. Your tax return can be filed electronically to help you get any refund back more quickly.
The Tax Organizer helps you organize your tax information more easily, based on your prior-year tax return. It identifies ways to minimize your tax burden by making the most of allowable deductions and/or credits. Providing pertinent details to your Tax Preparer can also help prevent tax notices. Tax notices are generated when taxpayers fail to report items already provided to the government (such as information from employers or financial institutions).
The new drop-off process simplifies your tax-return process and reduces the need for an appointment. Simply deliver or mail your tax packet documents, or upload them to our portal.
That’s right! Just provide your tax packet documents; your preparer will call to review results.

The fee for tax preparation depends on your type of return and the number of schedules. For example, the fee for a federal Form 1040 (individual income tax return) with a Schedule A (itemized deductions), Schedule D (capital gains), the New York state income tax return, and no complicating issues would be approximately $195. The E-filing service is included.
If your return is more complex and requires additional work, the fee will be discussed with you at your appointment.
Tax balances paid after the April 17th deadline may incur penalty and interest charges from the IRS and your state, even with the extension. The extension only extends the deadline to file. It does not extend the deadline to pay any tax due. If penalties and interest are assessed, you will receive a written notice from the IRS and/or your state with a bill attached. The IRS does not call taxpayers about penalties and interest.
Federal. Check your federal return at www.irs.gov and click “Get Your Refund Status.” Or, call (800) 829-4477.
New York. The status of your individual New York state refund can be tracked at www.tax.ny.gov “Check Your Refund.” Or, call (518) 457-5149.
